The first Dilmah School of Tea in China was held from the 2nd to the 4th of April 2013 at Shangri-la, Qingdao.

The first Dilmah School of Tea in China was held from the 2nd to the 4th of April 2013 at Shangri-la, Qingdao. The School of Tea was held for members of Shangri-la as a 'training of trainers' session so that they in turn can train personnel at their respective hotels.
The School of Tea sessions were presented by Dilhan C. Fernando - son of Dilmah Founder, Edwin Soon - Wine writer, Daya Wickrematunge - Director, MJF Beverages and Robert Schinkel - Tea Mixologist. The modules covered included the history and manufacture of real tea, tea and health, seasonal flush teas and tea gastronomy and tea mixology.
Participants were also given points for each session and based on their overall performance, a winner was selected for a prize of a trip to Sri Lanka. The School of Tea was held in wake of the global partnership signed between Dilmah tea and Shangri-la hotels which will see Shangri La properties worldwide serving Dilmah tea exclusively from December 2012 for a period of 3 years. This includes 72 existing properties and over 50 new proposed properties throughout the world.
The Dilmah School of Tea seeks to inspire passion in tea through knowledge of the artisanal aspects of tea amongst hospitality professionals, tea aficionados and consumers. The emphasis is on the importance of Real Tea and the versatility of this natural herb in Tea Gastronomy, food pairing and Tea Mixology.
