The luxury, Asian-styled tea lounge at the Hilton provides all the essentials of the traditional afternoon tea and much, much more. Dilmah – the Sri Lankan tea company with historic Scottish roots – gives this new venture its unique character. The tea menu standouts are natural Ceylon Ginger or Rose and Vanilla and from the t-cocktails a G&Tea concocted by the knowledgeable Dilmah-trained sommeliers should not be missed. Three different teas are matched to each of the three courses: savoury sandwiches and pastries, warm scones, and elegant cakes. Sandwiches include cocoa bread cucumber and smoked salmon, roast Angus beef in a minute sesame slider, and chunky, succulent pesto chicken wrap. The scone menu is an indulgent delight with a fruit and plain scone per person, clotted cream, jam and homemade lemon curd. Cakes are served from a stylish trolley in delicate and enchanting mouthfuls of the lightest sponges and hand-crafted patisserie. The tiny passion fruit tart on a sliver of the shortest of pastries provides a palate-cleansing finale to the parade of afternoon tea treats.
