Sri Lanka Economic Summit “Resetting the Export Portfolio”

The upcoming Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021, the foremost and most anticipated economic event of Sri Lanka, will host a lineup of contemporary dialogues under this year’s theme ‘Springboard for revival: Opportunity to reset’. Day two of the event will feature a session dedicated to ‘Resetting the Export Portfolio’ on 7th December, 2021.
This session will focus on how the country can generate more dollar inflows by enhancing the existing market mix and driving diversification aggressively into growing sectors. It will discuss the role investment will play in moving beyond the traditional basket of exports. In the context of other countries also looking to reposition their export strategy, it will be important to understand how they intend to do so as well.
The Presenter at this plenary will be Professor Ricardo Hausmannn, Director of the Growth Lab at Harvard’s Center for International Development and the Rafik Hariri Professor of the Practice of International Political Economy at Harvard Kennedy School. Mr. Suresh De Mel - Chairman, Export Development Board, H E Grace Asirwatham - Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the EU, Mr. Aroon Hirdaramani - Director, Hirdaramani Group, Mr. Shalin Balasuriya - Co-Founder, Spa Ceylon and Mr. Dilhan Fernando - CEO, Dilmah Tea, will join the panel discussion. The session will be moderated by Ms. Subhashini Abeysinghe - Research Director, Verite Research.
The Sri Lanka Economic Summit 2021(SLES 2021) is scheduled to be held on 6th and 7th December as a hybrid summit catering to participants who would join online as well as participate in-person at the Shangri-La Hotel. The theme for the 21st Sri Lanka Economic Summit is based on creating an environment that will be a Springboard for Revival, leveraging on the Opportunity to Reset.
