Dilmah Tea was selected as one of Sri Lanka’s Most Admired Companies by the International Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka. The ten Most Admired Companies were selected with the involvement of an eminent panel of judges and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) based on financial and non-financial performance. Several rounds of assessment recognised Dilmah’s performance in the challenging business environment, its innovation, contribution to community, and to the environment while creating value in a wider sense.

In addition to this honourable mention, Dilmah Founder Merrill J. Fernando was also honoured in the same night as one of the three Most Admired Leaders in Sri Lanka. He was chosen for his passionate commitment to Quality and Integrity, and for the philosophy he established at the heart of his Dilmah Tea business, of making business a matter of human service.

Amongst the three winners were Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Industrialist Sohli Captain.

Merrill J Fernando was the first tea grower in the world to offer his tea, grown, perfected and packed at source, direct to tea drinkers around the world. In doing so he defined genuinely ethical tea, making sure that earnings from the sale of his tea benefited his workers, the wider community, sustainability in tea, whilst also addressing inequality, climate change adaptation amongst other national issues.
