Come and see the tallest little girl in Sri Lanka! The Little Girl Giant Puppet of Sri Lanka will have its public premiere at the World Puppet Day Celebrations on Saturday 24th March from 4 p.m. onwards at Independence Square (free entrance, organised by the Cultural Department of Sri Lanka).

The Little Girl Giant Puppet is a novel initiative by the MJF Charitable Foundation to promote Puppetry as an income generation method to youth and hopes to spread the message of female empowerment by encouraging all care givers to raise every little girl to be the biggest giant she can be.

This giant puppet has a height of 14ft and was built under the direction of Swedish artist Felix Widen Norgren (Director, Compania Pirata) in collaboration with Power of Play Ltd., a company that utilizes puppetry and performing arts for communication, awareness and reconciliation of communities. This project was made possible through the sponsorship provided by Dilmah’s Merrill J Fernando Charitable Foundation.

Built with 60% recycled materials, the Little Girl Giant Puppet is an eco-friendly spectacle bound to fascinate any audience – please contactinfo@powerofplay.lk for more information on performances available for events.
